Dropping off the kids
The Author stepped out of the portal into the monitor room and greeted Deadpool and Fate.
These two have followed the Author's handling of the MacGyver episode and congratulated him. The Author thanked them and then went to the fridge to get a bottle of Hunters Gold that had been waiting for him.
He popped off the cap and took a long sip before he went to sit down in one of the chairs.
"So- Jared..." he said. Jared listened attentively. "I know I said I was going to drop you off at Constantine's for training. I have changed my mind, however..."
"Why?" Jared asked. He was not really that eager to train with anyone. He never wanted to have anything to do with magic, but- since he got benched indefinitely by his writers and the Author is the only one that still wishes to give him a story to be part of- he felt that playing his part in this story was the least he could do.
"Well... you are still going to Constantine- and Zatanna for that matter- but since you are with me I thought that you might enjoy first learning to use magic from somebody outside the DC Universe..."

"Like who?" Deadpool interjected. "Albus Dumbledore".
"Ummm no..." the Author replied. "The kind of magic taught by Dumbledore relies on the use of wands and Jared would look gay as fuck swinging a wand around and yelling 'expelliarmus' or some shit like that..."
Deadpool burst out laughing. "Or- wingardium levio- pfffffff! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Jared was getting annoyed with not getting whatever this inside joke was that these two were sharing. The Author noticed and apologetically explained to Jared about the lore of the Harry Potter franchise.
Then- getting back to the topic- he calmly said: "No- I am going to take you to Steven Strange in the Marvel Universe. He does not use wands and he had no magical power, abilities or tools when he learned magic."

"I see." Jared said, nodding. He knew that his magical eye, dodgy teleporting ability and freaky arm did not make him much of a magic user. It looked even worse when he got compared to Dr Fate, the original owner of the artifacts that he now owned.
"Deadpool-" the Author then said. "I have a mission for you as well. It is going to keep you quite busy..."
Deadpool was all ears.
"I am going to drop you off at Outworld just before Shao Kahn had lost to Liu Kang and Kung Lao. You are to help Mileena become ruler of Outworld, make peace with Edenia and by all means make sure that Shao Kahn does not invade Earth."
Deadpool has played Mortal Kombat a couple of times before. He did not know the history well, but he knew that this meant that his actions were going to prevent Mortal Kombat 3 from ever happening- at least the story thereof...
"You hate Mortal Kombat 3?" he asked.

"No." the Author replied. "Mortal Kombat 3 was awesome. Alongside Trilogy it is my favourite Mortal Kombat game of all time. What I do not like is the gameplay and controls of every Mortal Kombat that came after..."
"Also-|" the Author added "After that invasion Liu Kang got turned into a Zombie and eventually Raiden decided to fuck the timeline which led to most of the good guys getting turned evil to work for Shinnok."
"Oh! Cool!" Deadpool cried out with excitement, clapping his hands together and jumping up from his seat. "Let's go! I get to do some cool Fatalities as well, right?"
"You know it." the Author smiled. "There is one other thing..."
Deadpool listened quietly.
"Tell Mileena that you want the following in return for helping her:
1. Peace between Outworld, Earth Realm and Edenia
and-
2. A teddy."
Deadpool gave him a confused look.
The Author nodded sympathetically. "I see that you have not played the special stages in Mortal Kombat 9... Trust me, however- It is important that Mileena feels loved and accepted."
"And taking a teddy bear from her is going to do that?" Deadpool asked.
"Oh! It will..." the Author smiled and opened up the portal...

The first stop was177A Bleecker Street in New York City, Marvel Universe. Dr Strange was on the roof of the Sanctori Sanctum when he sensed the visitors arriving at his foyer.

After introductions Dr Strange listened to the Author's request and his layout of the circumstances. This new apprentice had the ability of spiritual sight, but has never cast any spells before.

"What good will training him do?" he asked.
"Well-" the Author said, almost appearing as if he was not prepared for the question. " Apart from the satisfaction in knowing that you are better equipping a repairman of reality to do his job... you get to study the artifacts in his possession."
"Why would I want to do that?" Strange asked, sounding disinterested.
"Trust me..." the Author calmly replied- "Your world is yet to face more than its fair share of threats from beings that do not fight fair. I am sure you will appreciate anything that would give you an advantage in the battles to come."
"This guy will also tell you your fortune!" Deadpool added.
Strange did not seem to eager to accept this proposal, but eventually gave in.
The next stop was in Mileena's room in Outworld. It was night time. Instead of being asleep Mileena was sitting curled up on on her bed. She was crying. She looked up with a startled gasp when the portal opened in her room. The human with the trench coat looked scary, but the masked guy in the red and black jumpsuit looked kinda cute...
"Hey!" Deadpool greeted as he immediately sat down next to her. He saw the teddy at her feet.
"Did you make this?"
Mileena quietly nodded. The Author disappeared into the portal and left the two of them alone.
Mileena did not seem to notice.
"It looks really cute." Deadpool said in a warm friendly voice.
Mileena smiled and dried off her tears...
