None Of That

The portal opened up in a warehouse in a Gotham city that Cassandra did not know. As it was with the Author's ability, the he did not need to know the location of where he was going, just which moment in the story.
"Is this Gotham in a parallel universe to ours?" Cassandra asked while the others stepped out of the portal behind her and the Author.
"This one exists in a video game." the Author replied. "While I was able to finish the game the ending to this game's story really sucks..."
"What happens?" Deadpool asked. "Does Batman get killed?"
"Something like that..." the Author answered.
"So... what do we do?" Sephiroth asked. "Find Batman's killer and stop him before he does it?"
"We have arrived way ahead of all that." the Author replied. "We need to find the Scarecrow and eliminate him. Then we leave..."
Jared seemed restless. "So- we probably have to fight our way through an army of goons to get to this guy..."
The Author took a while to think it over. He stared at the cargo container beneath his feet and then suddenly looked up with an expression that showed clear signs of inspiration...
The Author took a deep breath and while holding his hands in the kali mudra in front of his chin he breathed out. Kayako's grey vapour form spilled from his mouth and seeped into the walls of the building.
"She makes all of us feel redundant..." Deadpool sighed.

Jonathan Crane, the Scarecrow loved fear. It was his thing. Whenever Gothamites were found suffering from intense horrifying hallucinations the Police would not even bother considering other suspects.
Having escaped from Arkham Asylum some time after the Arkham City project got shut down he felt that he had a lot of lost time to make up for. That was why his men were busy loading drums of his latest toxin to be taken to Stagg Industries. From there these drums were going to be loaded onto one of the Air Ships from where the toxins were to be released into the air, causing citywide panic...
Gotham had no idea of what was coming...

He went to a small office in the warehouse where he had a television screen, a camera a computer and some broadcasting equipment set up. Anytime now the news will come up with a special bulletin about people going crazy and tearing away at each other in a local diner. He had one of his thugs take a bag of the toxin to this particular diner just for that purpose...
Soon the news will come up, and then- he would override the broadcast with his own special message for Gotham...
His waiting was interrupted when he noticed a pale black haired girl standing in the door, quietly staring at him.
Her white dress and black eyes seem too unnatural for her to be real. His gas mask was most likely leaking, but then again... why was only he affected and not the men in the loading bay...?
Kayako walked up to the Scarecrow who suddenly felt his own fear getting the better of him without any gas being involved. The Scarecrow retreated in terror, feeling his limbs grow stiff and unwilling as he shook. He opened his mouth to scream then...
The girl disappeared...
The last thing the Scarecrow felt was his head suddenly twisting all by itself and snapping off his neck...
Kayako reappeared in front of the team.
The Author nodded. He knew it was done.
They could leave Gotham as it was now. Batman still had enough to do. There was the Man Bat, Azrael, Deathstroke, Two-Face, Harley Quinn and of course the Arkham Knight to take care of. Sure- they would give him a lot of trouble, but none of these people would unmask him and reveal his secret identity to the world...
