Swift Vengeance- An unlikely saviour

The peculiarity in the Author's travels via portal was that he did not know the exact geographic location of where he stepped out, but he always knew that it was the right place at the right time- every time.

With Kayako happily resting in his body he was ready to do what needed to be done to fix this horrible story that had been giving him nightmares for months since he have watched it...

The portal opened up across the street from the bar where a girl called Hyun-Jae was being checked out by his and Kayako's first target.

While crossing the street the Author exhaled in one long breath and Kayako flew out in the form of a vapour that closely resembled the foggy breath of someone on a cold winter's night or a puff of cigarette smoke. She faded into complete invisibility and darted through the bar's door to her target.

Hyun Jae was giggling nervously under the handsome stranger's eye contact. She never had the chance to go to bars like this one and has never met any guys either. Receiving this much attention on her first night out was really exciting.

What was just extremely horrifying was seeing her first hot encounter to be convulsing in a series of sudden spasms, his head spinning a full 360 degrees and shooting of his body like a champagne cork...

Kayako left the screaming mob in the bar behind as she darted out in her invisible, intangible form and took a sharp invisible turn to join a puff of cigarette smoke on its way into the Author's lungs as he stood with his back against the wall, enjoying a smoke as he waited for his agent of retribution to return.

"That man really deserved to die..." Kayako said as she settled down in the Author's body. Her psychic voice sounded a lot less vengeful, and rather more relaxed- like she was finally enjoying her life as a deadly wraith.

"He certainly did..." the Author replied in his mind.

"Next up..." he announced as he walked into an alley and opened a new portal "the warehouse..."

Buildings are Kayako's specialty. She inhabits them in much the same way in which a soul inhabits a body. Doors, windows, furniture and all other objects inside the building responded to her will in the same way a person's limbs respond to his/ her will.

When she arrived at the Warehouse her instructions were clear and simple:

- Keep the cell doors locked;

- Kill all the male occupants;

- Open all the cell doors when all the bad guys are dead.

Kayako's visible body was actually not a physical body at all. It was a manifestation in her victim's minds. It could not really touch anything. What nobody has ever realised was that- if one ever saw Kayako- she was already inside her observer(s).

Still- when it came to possessing people- she could only do one at a time.

Vaughn and three armed guards, all of whom were unaware of the fact that the person that they have expected to walk through the door actually had his head pop off were still in the process of registering that this was an entirely different person entering the room when the man nearest the door got his automatic rifle grabbed and himself flung into the guard a bit to the right behind him when he instinctively held on to the rifle- only to be swung around like a wet rag and released to stumble into his mate behind him.

The Author is very proud of his martial arts skills. He especially liked using Taijiquan's techniques that relied on him being firmly rooted while the enemy was being uprooted. This particular throw made him a firmly rooted axis of rotation while the surprised and uprooted thug was severely off-balance.

The flow of the Author's movement did not stop there, though. He slapped a rifle barrel aside and spun right into the next guy, hitting him hard enough in the ribs with his elbow that the cracking sound was clearly audible.

The Author's hand snaked down to the thug's leg while his other hand pushed against the thug's throat and sent him into what would have been an assisted back flip if the thug's head had not hit the concrete floor so hard...

The Author wasted no time admiring his handiwork as the guard that got thrown first was now aiming his weapon at him from a seated position on the floor. The Author shot forward in a lightning fast diagonal step forward. The next step took him past the gun's barrel and he landed an exploding punch in the gunman's face. The one behind him just got back on his feet, but only to collapse in pain when a spinning back kick drove his ribs into his liver and lungs with a wet snap. The Author could now see that none of the men were in the state to attack him. Vaughn was just standing out of his way, realising that he was on the verge of shitting himself. Who the fuck was this guy?

"Who the fuck are you?!" he yelled while the intruder quietly collected the men's guns and tossed them out the door. Well- only two of them. The last one he took he held on to and checked the safety clip. He snorted with a quick smirk. Dumb fuck had not even taken the safety off...

"Listen, man!" Vaughn tried again as he felt his courage gathering slowly but surely. "You have not done shit!"

He nervously pointed to a door behind him while he eyed the quiet man...

"Very soon- a bunch of guys are going to come through that door and you're gonna be fucked! You hear me? FUCKED!!!"

The Author gave him what was to seem like a puzzled look, but most probably ended up looking sarcastic.

"Which door?" he asked without pointing the weapon at Vaughn.

"That one!" Vaughn nervously answered and looked around to see whether his finger was pointing at the right door.

"JEEZUS!!!" he screamed in a really high pitched voice as he met the gaze of a pale Japanese girl-zombie with pitch black eyes. Vaughn actually found himself jumping towards the guy with the gun, but got knocked unconscious with the rifle before he realised how stupid that was...

Kayako walked through the door at which Vaughn had pointed and melted into a trail of smoke. Behind her gun shots went off...

The guards outside the cell doors were all on full alert after hearing the gunshots. Some decided that they did not want to be found in this place along with all the evidence if it was the FBI cracking down on them. Others decided not to become the ones to be reported to the Sheriff for leaving their posts and prepared to shoot the first person to come from the direction of the sound...

The guard nearest the smoke cloud, however, had it all fly into his mouth and up his nose and suddenly turned around and fired his weapon at all those who were standing behind him. When the only thugs left alive ended up being those who ducked in time Kayako repainted the cell doors by having them flung from their hiding places into the doors at a speed just below that of a bullet fired from a gun.

The girls behind the steel doors screamed in terror as they heard the loud banging on the cell doors.

Then- all went quiet. The cell doors unlocked and swung open...

It was going to be a while, however, until the girls would come to terms with the fact that they could now just walk out of their cells without being punished...

Kayako seeped through the ceiling and faded into the Author who was lying in a sniper's posistion on the roof.

The Author was patiently waiting for the Sheriff to show up. No doubt he had already received a call that all hell was breaking loose at his undisclosed business. A lone police vehicle did arrive eventually.  Its fat brown-clad driver with his typical Sheriff's hat got out and crumpled up in a heap when the shot went off.

"Great job, Kayako." the Author said in a soft caring voice. Inside him Kayako blushed and smiled quietly.

Kayako could always levitate bodies. In this case, however, she used this ability to help her kind host to glide down from the roof and towards the Sheriff's car. When he landed he took the mouthpiece of the two-way radio and- well... called for backup...

When he got asked where exactly he was Kayako shot out along the road until she found the nearest road sign and sped back to tell him.

After having ensured that this warehouse was soon going to be found by actual policemen the Author disappeared through a portal, taking his sweet new ghost friend with him to their next adventure...
